In 2000 I finally made it to Isaan, Northeast Thailand. My main mission was to see some of the many Khmer ruins including Phimai in Korat, Phanom Rung and Muang Tam in Buriram and Khao Phra Wihan, a huge Khmer temple complex that is in Cambodia, but, at that time, only accessible from Thailand.
